MY COMMUNITY 

The Sundre Community Engagement Site, located in the Sundre High School, opened its doors February of 2009.

Staff and students in Sundre, the business community and the general public are all able to access learning opportunities, workshops and general interest courses both face-to-face and via video-conferencing.  Available in the Sundre  Community Engagement Site is high-definition video-conferencing , SMARTBOARD© technology, wireless internet, stereo sound system ,a high-definition document camera and a Blu-ray© DVD player.

There are two video-conferencing suites; the large room can accommodate up to twenty participants, and the small suite has a high-definition desk top unit that can comfortably seat four.

The Sundre Community

Sundre, Alberta, is located in the scenic foothills of Canada's majestic Deer River, in the west-central section of Alberta, and is easily accessible by car from the two nearest cities — Calgary and Red Deer. Located 40 km west of the Town of Olds, Sundre is 130 km north-west of Calgary or approximately 100 km south-west of Red Deer. Sundre is a thriving town of 2,518 persons.

The service area of Sundre is almost the same size as the number of town residence due to the high rural population. The smaller community centers are shown in the map below.  Accessing services and learning opportunities without the need to travle long distances is now possible at the Sundre Video Conferencing Site.
